Join our 20th Anniversary Celebration!!  20 years of bringing the best of French Culture and Language to the Princeton area.

This is a huge milestone for Alliance Française in Princeton and of course we want to celebrate the occasion with all of our AFP members, students and the many who have given and continue to give their support.  We are very thankful and hopefully you will all be able to join us as we mark the start of our third decade!!

Styled after a French Apéro Dinatoire, we will offer a selection of French-inspired appetizers, wines, cheeses, pastries and of course a gâteau d’anniversaire.  And of course, there will be live French music provided by the spectacular Eva Martin & Le Jazz Fun.

Summer Adult Beginner Workshop A1/A2

 

We are offering this workshop for novice French Students, teens or adults, who wish to maintain and improve their proficiency over the summer months. The outline below describes what will be covered.  You must have had some previous French instruction to attend this class.

Time: 5:45 pm – 7:15 pm – 90 minutes
Location:  This workshop will be conducted via Zoom.  You will be mailed the link before classes start

Targeted Grammar

Context

Apprenticeship

Past tense & negative past tense.  “Avoir du mal à”, “ne pas arriver à”. “Se sentir”+adjective.

Talk about your experience.  Express emotion. Give your opinion.

Lodging

Comparatives and superlatives.  The “y” pronoun.  Prepositions of placement or position.

Describe a home or lodging. Make comparisons. Express preferences.

Memories and Anecdotes

L’imparfait and le passé composé tenses.  Time indicators.

Relate a memory.  Describe a situation from the past.

Sports and Health

Imperative tense. “Il faut/il ne faut pas”.  Simple future tense. “Si +présent+futur”

Give advice. Talk about health. Express an obligation or requirement.

Projects and Goals

Present conditional tense. “J’aimerais”, “Je voudrais”.  “Souhaiter” and “Espérer”.  “Si+imparfait+conditionnel” 

Express a hope. Talk about projects. Imagine situations.
