We are pleased to offer this screening of the classic French comedy, “Le Dîner de Cons” starring Thierry Lhermitte and Jacques Villeret (with English Subtitles). There will be time for discussion and socializing after the movie. You must “purchase” your free ticket to attend.
This comedy was 1998’s top-grossing film at the French box office. With over 9 million tickets sold, it came in second to Titanic. Not only does it portray French comedy, but it provides an inside look at typical French mannerisms.
Synopsis: To amuse themselves at a weekly dinner, a group of prominent Parisian businessmen must bring along an oblivious “idiot.” The ideal “idiot” is usually one who is obsessed by a ridiculous hobby whom the other guests can ridicule subtly all evening without the idiot catching on. At the end of the dinner, the evening’s “champion idiot” is selected among the businessmen. Of course, the dinner plan goes wrong with great hilarity.
